New York City, New York – April 25, 2011: Traniece Hill and Shane Sullivan, students at Van Nuys High School in Van Nuys, California are representing Los Angeles at the 2011 National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City on April 26th and 27th. The students and their high school auto tech teacher, Joe Agruso, are sponsored by the Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers Association (GLANCDA).
The Competition, the auto industry’s largest school-to-work initiative, pits the nation’s best high school automotive vocational education students against one another for the title of ‘America’s Top Technician’. In order to prepare for the National Auto Tech Competition Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA took the GLANCDA team under their wings. Galpin Ford provided over forty internship hours to the student team. The Ford Training Center in La Mirada, CA provided additional support to the teacher and the students.
