The Cars.com Compact Car Challenge has named the Honda Civic as the best compact car for 2017.
Cars.com praised the Honda Civic for its design, features and attention to detail. In order to qualify for this challenge vehicles had to cost less than $23,000, have an EPA combined fuel economy of at least 31 mph and an interior volume over 91 cubic feet.
The base model 2017 Honda Civic comes equipped with a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 158 hp. If you want more power consider the available turbocharged 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine. It comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission with the option of adding in a CVT. The Civic maneuvers well around corners and offers excellent steering feedback.
The interior offers seating room for five adults. Standard interior features include a rearview camera, stereo system, USB port and Bluetooth connectivity. Optional features include push button start, a 7″ touch screen, satellite radio and navigation system.
Cargo space stands at 15.1 cubic feet for the sedan and 12.1 cubic feet for the coupe version. The hatchback version comes with 25.7 cubic feet which is expandable to 46.2 cubic feet with the seats folded. A large number of safety features are available including air bags, child safety locks, brake assist and traction control.
